Stainless steel

Stainless steel is a type of metal that is really good at not getting rusty. Do you know what rust is? It's that orange-brown stuff you see on old nails or on bikes that have been left out in the rain.

Stainless steel is made by mixing different metals together, like iron and chromium. The mix makes the metal really strong and it creates a protective layer over it that stops air and water from getting in and causing rust.

It's used for lots of things because it's really strong and doesn't break easily. You might have seen it on kitchen appliances like sinks, ovens and refrigerators, but it's also used in things like buildings, bridges, and even in some medical equipment.

So, in short, stainless steel is a tough metal that doesn't rust because it has special ingredients mixed in it that keep it protected from rust.
