Standard error of the median

Standard error of the median is a way to measure how accurately a median (the middle most number in a set of numbers) represents all the numbers in a set. It's calculated by taking the standard deviation (a measure of how much the numbers in the set differ from each other) and dividing it by the square root of the size of the set. The smaller the standard error of the median, the better the median is at representing all the numbers in the set.
