ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Standards & Practices

Standards and practices are rules that people follow when they are doing something. They help make sure that everyone does things the same way and that everything works the way it should.

Think of it like playing a game with your friends. If you all have the same rules, it is easy to know what you can and can't do. For example, if everyone agrees that you can only move one space at a time in a board game, nobody will argue over how far they can move.

Standards and practices are used in all sorts of things, like building houses or making food. They help make sure that things are safe and work well.

For example, when people build a house, there are rules they have to follow so that the house is strong, doesn't fall down, and is safe for people to live in. The people building the house have to use the right materials and put things together in a certain way, and they have to get the house inspected to make sure everything is okay.

In the same way, when people make food, there are rules they have to follow to make sure it is safe to eat. They have to use clean equipment, keep the food at the right temperature, and put the right labels on it so people know what they are eating.

So, standards and practices are like rules that make sure everyone is doing things the same way and that things work well and are safe.
