Steam is like an online video game store. It's like a virtual shopping mall full of video games, but instead of actually buying the games, you "purchase" them by paying a certain amount of money. Once you pay the money, you can start playing the game right away. It also has lots of other features, like letting you chat with your friends, check out game reviews and videos, and even buy other types of things like movies and music.
