Stem cell controversy

Stem cells are special types of cells that can change into many other types of cells. This could be helpful in treating certain diseases, but some people are against it because they don’t agree with doing experiments on cells that come from people, like embryos. Because of this, scientists have to find other places to get stem cells, such as from adult tissues or umbilical cord blood, so they can still do research. Some people are against stem cell research because they don't think it’s right to do experiments on cells from people, or even cells from animals, and so they don’t want scientists to keep doing it. Some people don’t think it’s ethical or even religious to use stem cells for research because they believe people and animals should be respected and not used for experiments.
