A steppe is a big grassy plain, kind of like a giant lawn made of grass. There are a few trees and bushes, but mostly it's just a lot of grass. It's usually found in places that don't get a lot of rain or have really dry climates, like in parts of Central Asia or in Russia.
Lots of animals like to live on the steppe, like horses, antelopes, and camels. People who live on the steppe often herd animals like sheep or goats and move around a lot to find good grazing for their herds. Because it's so big and open, it can get really windy and the weather can change really quickly. But it's also really pretty to look at and can have some really interesting wildlife.
