Stigler's law

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of Stigler's Law? It's a funny idea named after a man named George Stigler.

Basically, Stigler's Law says that when people say something is named after a certain person, that's usually not true. Instead, it's usually named after someone else who did something similar earlier.

It's kind of like when your mom tells you she invented a cool game, but then your dad tells you he played that same game when he was your age. Someone else might have come up with the game first, but your mom didn't know that.

So, Stigler's Law is just a way of saying that history is often more complicated than we think. People love to take credit for things, but sometimes they weren't the first ones to do them.
