ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stochastic simulation

Stochastic simulation is a way of figuring out what might happen in the future. It's like playing a game where you pick a number, then you roll a pair of dice to find out what happens next. For example, if you choose the number 5 and roll a 6, then this means that something unexpected (or "stochastic") happened! Stochastic simulation is used in lots of different areas (like economics, physics, etc.) to predict what will happen in the future.
