Stone mould

Okay kiddo, so have you ever played with playdough or mashed potatoes? You know how you can squish them into shapes and then let them dry and they keep that shape?

Well, a stone mould is kind of like that, but instead of playdough, we use a special kind of sand that's called molding sand. It's a bit like normal sand you might find at the beach, but it's made specifically for making molds for things like metal parts.

So, let's say you want to make a metal part that looks like a toy car. You would take a block of this molding sand and press a toy car into it. This would make an impression in the sand that looks like a toy car. Then, you would take the toy car out of the sand and pour melted metal into the impression.

When the metal cools and hardens, you can break the sand mold apart to get your metal toy car out. It's kind of like how you would take your mashed potato creation out of its mold if you made a bear or a star shape.

Overall, a stone mould is a way to create a shape out of a special sand that you can then use to make metal parts or other objects. It's like playing with playdough, but with sand and metal.
