Okay kiddo, do you know what steel is? It's a strong metal that we use to make all sorts of things, like cars and buildings. Strip steel is a type of steel that is made by taking a big sheet of steel and cutting it up into long, thin strips.
Think of it like a big piece of paper that you cut into skinny ribbons. These strips of steel are usually less than a quarter of an inch thick and can be very long, like 50 feet or more!
The reason we make strip steel is because it's really versatile. We can use it to make things like pipes, wires, and even parts for machines. We can also bend and shape it easily, because it's not too thick.
To make strip steel, we start with a big block of iron that we heat up until it's liquid. Then, we add in some other metals like carbon and manganese to make it stronger. Finally, we pour this hot, liquid metal into a long, flat mold that's shaped like a big tray.
After the metal cools down and hardens, we take it out of the mold and cut it up into those long, thin strips. And just like that, we have strip steel!
