ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sub nomine

Okay kiddo, so you know how people have names, right? Well, sometimes when we talk about a big group of people or things, we don't want to say every single name. That would take too much time and be confusing.

So instead, we use a special word to talk about the whole group. That word is called a "sub nomine."

It's like if we went to a park and saw lots of different animals - dogs, cats, birds, and squirrels. We could say "Look at all the animals in the park" instead of trying to name each individual animal. "Animals" would be our sub nomine for the different creatures we saw.

Does that makes sense, kiddo?
