Sub-orbital spaceflight is when a spacecraft (a special kind of vehicle made for flying in space) goes really high up in the sky, higher than any regular airplane. It goes so high, it goes beyond the atmosphere of the Earth, and for a short time, the astronauts on the spacecraft can actually see the curved shape of the Earth and experience weightlessness. This type of spaceflight doesn't go all the way to the moon, but it's enough to feel like you're in space.
