Okay kiddo, you know how we have different parts of the world like continents? Some of them are really big like Asia, Africa, and North America. But did you know that there are also parts of the world that are underwater?
That's right, a submerged continent is a big piece of land that used to be above water but is now under the ocean. It's like a sunken island! Scientists believe that these submerged continents used to be part of bigger landmasses, but then millions of years ago, something happened and they sank under the water.
One example of a submerged continent is Zealandia, which is found mostly underwater near Australia and New Zealand. But even though it's underwater, Zealandia is still pretty big - about the size of India! Scientists have discovered that it's also home to a lot of different plants and animals that are only found there.
So even though we can't see submerged continents with our eyes, they're still there, hiding deep beneath the waves!
