ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Suborbital spaceflight

Okay kiddo, you know how we live on the Earth and there's a big sky above us? Well, some people want to go even higher and explore space!

Suborbital spaceflight means going up into space, but not quite as high as the blue orb you see in the night sky, the moon. Instead, you go up just a little bit and then come back down to Earth. It's kind of like jumping really high on a trampoline and then coming back down.

People who go on suborbital spaceflights get to see what it's like to be weightless, meaning they feel like they are floating in the air because there is no gravity pulling them down. They also get to see the Earth from way up high, and it looks very different than it does down here.

Suborbital spaceflight isn't as hard as going all the way to the moon or other planets, but it's still pretty challenging. It takes a lot of rocket power to get a spaceship up that high, and it needs to be built really well so it doesn't break or malfunction while it's in space.

Overall, suborbital spaceflight is a really exciting adventure for people who want to see what it's like to be a space explorer, even if it's just for a little while!
