Sufganiyah

A sufganiyah is a delicious sweet treat that is often enjoyed during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. It looks kind of like a round donut with a big hole in the middle, but it is filled with yummy jelly or custard.

To make a sufganiyah, first you mix together some flour, sugar, yeast, eggs, and water to make dough. The dough is then shaped into little balls and fried in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Once the sufganiyahs are cool, a special tool called a piping bag is used to squirt jelly or custard into the hole in the middle. Then they are sprinkled with powdered sugar and voila, you have a deliciously sweet and sticky sufganiyah!

People love sufganiyahs because they are so yummy and fun to eat during Hanukkah, which is a time for celebrating with family and friends. Plus, they are a special way to honor the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the Jewish Temple long ago. Yum!
