Sun mythology

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the sun? It's that big, bright ball of light in the sky that gives us warmth and helps plants grow. Well, people have been fascinated with the sun for a long, long time. They used to think it was a god or goddess who controlled the sky.

In some ancient cultures, they believed that the sun was a powerful god who drove a chariot across the sky every day. They thought that when the sun set, the god was getting tired and needed to rest for a while before starting another day. They also believed that the god could get angry and cause things like droughts or floods if people didn't worship him enough.

In other cultures, they believed that the sun was a goddess who wore a crown of rays and was worshiped as a mother figure. People thought that she gave birth to the sun every morning and then went back to the underworld at night.

As time went on, these beliefs turned into stories and myths that were passed down from generation to generation. Some of these myths talked about heroes who had to go on journeys to find the sun or about how the sun was born from the cosmic egg.

Even today, some people still believe that the sun has special powers and can affect our lives in different ways. But for the most part, we know that the sun is just a big star that gives us light and heat, and we don't worship it as a god or goddess anymore.
