Supervenience

Supervenience is kind of like a mapping. It's like when you have something that fits over another thing and the two things go together perfectly. For example, paper maps work best when they are fitted over a 3D map of the world that models the real Earth. The paper map is like the supervenience - it fits perfectly over the 3D map and tells us information that is relevant to us. In this way, supervenience is like information that fits over something else and tells us important things in an organized way.
