Supervised visitation is when a parent or caregiver is only allowed to see and spend time with a child when there is another adult present (called a "supervisor") to make sure everyone is safe and happy. It's like having a babysitter for grown-ups!
Sometimes, parents or caregivers have to do supervised visitation because they hurt or caused harm to the child in the past, or because they have problems like drug addiction or anger issues that could be dangerous for the child to be around.
During supervised visitation, the supervisor will stay close by and make sure the parent/caregiver and child are doing fun and safe things together, like playing games or going to the park. The supervisor might also step in if there's an argument or if the parent/caregiver does or says something that could hurt the child.
Supervised visitation is a way to help parents or caregivers who have problems be able to have a relationship with their child while still keeping the child safe.
