Okay kiddo, imagine you are playing a game where you are fighting with toy airplanes. Imagine that your enemy also has toy airplanes and they want to shoot your airplanes down.
Now, when a real military is flying airplanes, they also have enemies who want to shoot their airplanes down. To stop their enemies from shooting their planes, they do something called suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD).
SEAD is like playing a game where you try to stop the other team from getting points. In this game, the points are airplanes going down. So, how do you stop the other team from getting points? You make it harder for them to hit your airplanes by taking care of their weapons.
Like in your toy airplane game, you may have different weapons. You may have a water gun or a foam ball launcher. To stop your enemy from hitting your airplanes, you could use your water gun to stop them from shooting or your foam ball launcher to knock their weapons down.
In the same way, the military has special airplanes called SEAD aircraft that are used to take care of the enemy's weapons that shoot down airplanes. They use their weapons to destroy or disable the enemy's radars, missiles, and other weapons that can hurt their airplanes. When they do this, it becomes much harder for the enemy to shoot down their airplanes, and they are more likely to win the game!
