Suspect

A suspect is someone who the police or other authorities think might have done something wrong. For example, let's say someone steals a piece of candy from a store. The security camera shows a person with a red hat leaving the store at the same time the candy went missing. The police might think the person with the red hat is the suspect because they were there at the same time and might have taken the candy. Being a suspect doesn't mean that a person is guilty, it just means the authorities want to ask them questions and find out more information to see if they did do something wrong.
