ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sustainable food system

A sustainable food system is a way of growing, transporting, and eating food that has a positive impact on the environment. It balances the needs of people and the planet by making sure everyone has enough food to eat and that our resources are not being used up faster than they can be replaced. This means local food production and reducing the amount of food going to waste. To have a sustainable food system, people should choose to buy, eat, and grow organic food that is produced in a way that doesn't damage the environment or hurt animals. They should also look for ways to reduce food miles, or the distance that food needs to travel to get to us, by buying food that is produced close by. Finally, supporting local farmers and using composting to reduce food waste are key steps to creating a sustainable food system.
