ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Swale (landform)

A swale is like a little ditch in the ground that's designed to help water flow away from where it shouldn't be, like your house or your yard, and towards places where it's good for the environment, like a park or a farm. It's like a little river, but slower and not as deep. It's usually dug into the ground on purpose and filled with special plants and soil that help filter the water as it flows through the swale. This helps keep the water clean and healthy for all the plants and animals that rely on it. So, a swale is like a little helper that makes sure the water goes where it's supposed to go and helps take care of our environment.
