The synoptic gospels are like a group of friends who tell the same story but in slightly different ways. There are three friends named Matthew, Mark, and Luke who all knew and followed Jesus when he was here on earth. They wanted to share the story of Jesus with others, so each of these friends wrote their own version of the story.
The three friends wrote about the same things that Jesus did and said, but sometimes they used different words or remember things differently. It’s kind of like when you and your friends all went to the park together and later you each told your parents about what you did, but everyone focused on different things. One friend might have remembered playing on the swings, while another friend remembered playing hide-and-seek.
The synoptic gospels are very important because they help us understand Jesus’ message and teachings better. When we read all three versions, we can see different perspectives and we can get a more complete picture of what happened. Each gospel has their own special things that makes them unique, but they all tell the story of Jesus’ life and teachings together.
