Tōdai-ji
Tōdai-ji is a temple in Japan that is really, really old. It was built way, way back in the year 752. Like, even before your grandma and grandpa were born. And guess what? It's still standing strong today!
Inside the temple, there is a big statue of a Buddha that is over 50 feet tall. Can you imagine how big that is? It's like a giant tree or a super tall building! The statue is called the Great Buddha, and it's made out of bronze. It's so big that it takes over 370 pounds of gold just to cover its face!
But that's not all. Tōdai-ji also has a really cool gate that is almost 100 feet tall. It's called the Nandaimon Gate, and it has two giant statues of warriors on either side. They look pretty fierce, but don't worry - they're just statues!
Lots and lots of people come to visit Tōdai-ji each year, because it's an important place for followers of Buddhism. It's like going to a really special playground, but instead of swings and slides, you get to see amazing buildings and sculptures that are over a thousand years old!
