ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tactile imaging

Tactile imaging is like taking pictures with your fingers. It's a way of using technology to make it easier to explore and understand our environment. With tactile imaging, a device sends out pulses of sound waves or ultrasound. These pulses can detect tiny changes in the surface of an object, like bumps, and relay information about the object's shape and size to a computer. This can help people with vision impairments to explore the world around them, as well as giving robots better "hands" to grab and understand objects.
