Talking drum

Dear little one,

A talking drum is a special kind of drum that people use to talk with each other in some parts of West Africa. When you play the drum, it makes different sounds that can represent words and phrases in some languages.

The drum is shaped like an hourglass and has two drumheads on either end. You play it by squeezing the drumheads together with your hand and then letting them go. This makes the drumhead vibrate and produce sound.

When you play the talking drum, you can change the pitch and tone of the sound by squeezing different parts of the drumhead. This is called "talking" because people can use these different sounds to create words and sentences that other people can understand.

So, with a talking drum, you can have a conversation with someone far away without actually speaking! It's like sending Morse code signals, but using drum sounds instead of dots and dashes.

That's pretty cool, right? Maybe someday you can learn to play the talking drum and have your own conversations with it!
