ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Drum (communication)

Okay, imagine you and your friend are in a big field and you want to talk to each other, but you're too far apart to just yell.

So instead, you use a drum. You bang the drum really loud to make a noise, and your friend hears it and knows you're trying to communicate.

Now, you can't just bang the drum once and expect your friend to understand what you're saying. You have to bang the drum in a certain way, with certain patterns and rhythms, to create a message.

When your friend hears your drumming, they can decode the message you're sending by listening carefully to the pattern and rhythm of the drumming.

Drum communication has been used for a long time in many different cultures, including some Native American tribes and African tribes. It's a really cool way to talk to each other without using any words!
