Tarmacadam is kind of like the special covering that goes on top of roads and driveways. It's made of tiny little rocks, called aggregates, that are mixed with a special gluey stuff made of tar. The gluey stuff helps the rocks stick together and makes the road super strong.
First, people dig up the ground and level it out to make a smooth surface. Then they lay down a layer of bigger rocks, like pebbles, to make a foundation. Next, they pour a layer of the gluey tar stuff over the pebbles and sprinkle on the smaller rocks to make the top layer. They use special machines to press the rocks down really hard so they stick to the tar and stay in place.
When it's all done, you have a super strong and durable road or driveway that can last for many years, even with lots of cars driving on it. Tarmacadam is important because it helps us get around safely and smoothly!
