Tetraplegic upper limb surgery is when a surgeon does an operation on someone's arm and hand to help them move them better. This type of surgery is for people who are tetraplegic, which means that they are not able to move part of their body, usually their arms and legs.
During the surgery, the surgeon will make small cuts in the patient's arm and hand with a special tool called a scalpel. Then the doctor will move the muscles and tendons in the arm and hand so that the patient can have better control over them. The surgeon may also implant a device called a robotic prosthesis to help the patient use the arm and hand more easily.
After the surgery, the patient may need physical therapy to help them get used to using the new muscles and tendons and to learn how to use the robotic prosthesis. With help and practice, the patient can eventually regain some of the movement that was lost due to the tetraplegia.
