ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Texting while driving

Okay kiddo, so texting while driving means that when someone is driving a car, they also use their phone to send and receive text messages. It's like trying to read a book or draw a picture while driving – it takes your attention away from the road and can be really dangerous.

When someone is driving, they need to focus all their attention on what's happening around them – like watching for other cars, stopping at traffic lights, and looking out for pedestrians. But if they're texting while driving, their attention is on their phone instead of the road. This means they might not notice if something dangerous is about to happen, like if a car suddenly stops in front of them or if a kid runs out into the street.

It's really important to remember that when someone is driving, they have a big responsibility to keep themselves and other people safe. Texting while driving makes it much harder to do that. That's why it's against the law and why we should always wait until we're safely stopped to use our phones.
