The Bible and slavery

In the Bible, God does not say that slavery is good, but He does recognize that it exists. That means people were allowed to have slaves but were instructed to treat them with kindness. In the Bible, God says that masters should treat their slaves with kindness, give them days off, and free them after seven years of servitude. Therefore, slavery should not be used to hurt people, but it was accepted in some cultures during ancient times.
