ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Theodore Payne Foundation

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a pretty garden with lots of colorful flowers and plants? Well, the Theodore Payne Foundation helps people learn how to make gardens like that with plants that are good for the environment and help animals like bees and butterflies.

The foundation is named after a man named Theodore Payne who loved native plants (that means plants that grow naturally in an area). He was very good at growing them and helping other people learn about them too.

Now the foundation he started helps people learn about the plants that are native to California (that's where we live!). They have a big nursery where they grow lots of different native plants and they sell them to people who want to make pretty gardens.

They also have classes and workshops to teach people how to take care of the plants and make sure they grow healthy. And they have a lot of information about why it's important to use native plants instead of bringing in plants from other places.

So the Theodore Payne Foundation is like a school for people who want to make beautiful gardens with plants that will help our environment and the animals that live in it. Pretty cool, huh?
