Therapeutic approach

Okay kiddo, so you know when you get a cut or a bruise and you need to put a band-aid on it or take some medicine to make it better? Well, there are some people who have something called a mental or emotional injury, and they need help to feel better too. That's where a therapeutic approach comes in.

A therapeutic approach is a way that grown-ups who are really good at helping people called therapists, can help someone who is feeling sad, anxious, or other big feelings. Therapists use different methods to help people feel better, just like a doctor might use different tools to fix a broken bone.

Sometimes, therapists might talk to someone to help them figure out why they are feeling a certain way. Other times, they might give them activities to do or exercises to practice that can help them feel better. It's kind of like going to the gym to exercise your muscles, therapy exercises your mind and feelings.

But the most important thing about a therapeutic approach is that it's a safe and supportive space for someone to talk about their feelings without being judged. Just like how you can tell your parents about how you feel without them getting mad, someone going to therapy can talk to their therapist about anything they're feeling without being judged or punished.

So, a therapeutic approach is a way that really nice grown-ups called therapists help people with big feelings feel better by talking, doing activities, and practicing new ways of thinking. And best of all, it's a safe and supportive space for people to talk about their feelings without being judged!
