Thomas Andrews Drake

Thomas Andrews Drake was a scientist who lived in the 1800s. He is famous for inventing the modern submarine and for creating equations (rules) which helped scientists understand how submarines work. He also studied how sound travels through the water, which was very important in helping submarines remain undetected. In essence, he helped make it possible for submarines to travel underwater without being seen or heard by enemies.
