Have you ever picked berries or fruits from a tree? After picking them, you might want to remove the parts that you can't eat, like stems, leaves, or seeds. That's what a threshing machine does, but for things like wheat.
Wheat is a type of plant that people use to make bread, cakes, and other foods. But before you can use wheat for cooking, you need to separate the grain (the part you eat) from the chaff (the part you can't eat).
Farmers used to do this by hand, but it was hard work and took a long time. That's why a long time ago, someone made a machine to help with this job. And that machine is called a threshing machine.
To use the threshing machine, the farmer first cut the wheat plants from the field and left it to dry. Once they were dry, the farmer would load the wheat onto the threshing machine.
The machine had a big drum with spikes on it that turned quickly. When the wheat entered the machine, the drum smashed the wheat and separated the grain from the chaff. The grain would come out of the bottom of the machine, while the chaff was blown away by a fan inside the machine.
So, just like how you separate the parts of a berry or fruit you can't eat when you pick them, the threshing machine separates the parts of the wheat plant that you can't eat. And that's how wheat is made ready for use in the kitchen.
