ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Thrust reversal

Thrust reversal is a way of slowing down an aircraft when it's in the air. An airplane has engines that push it forward, and this force is called thrust. Thrust reversal helps the plane slow down by making the thrust push backwards instead of forwards. This happens when the airplane is about to land. By pushing the engines backwards, the plane is able to slow down quickly and safely land.
