Tillage erosion happens when the land is used for farming. It happens when the farmer tills the soil (using a machine like a tractor, for example) to break it up and make it ready for seeds. But the tilling can make the soil loose, and so the wind and water can carry it away — like a river carrying away sand when there is a flood. This means that it's possible for farming to cause the soil to erode, which makes it harder for crops to grow.
