Timeline of nursing history in Australia and New Zealand

Nursing is when lovely people take care of other people who are sick or hurt. In Australia and New Zealand, nursing started a long, long time ago when people would take care of others in their families and communities when they got sick or hurt.

In the 1800s, hospitals started popping up in both Australia and New Zealand, and nurses were needed to help take care of all the sick people. These nurses weren't trained like they are today, so they had to learn on the job. They would work long hours and sometimes even lived at the hospital!

In the early 1900s, some clever people decided that nurses should have training, just like doctors. This meant that nurses could learn important things like cleaning wounds and giving medicines to make sure they were taking good care of their patients. The first nursing school in Australia opened in 1868, and in New Zealand, the first school opened in 1891.

As time went on, nursing became more and more important, and nurses started to be more respected for their hard work. During both World War I and World War II, nurses played a vital role in taking care of injured soldiers, and their bravery and dedication to helping others was recognized all over the world.

Today, nursing is a very important job, and nurses in Australia and New Zealand are highly trained professionals who work hard to keep people healthy and happy. They work in hospitals, clinics, schools, and even people's homes to make sure everyone gets the care they need. And with new technology and medical advancements, nurses are always learning new things to help even more people.
