Okay, so let's talk about women and math in the United States!
A long time ago, people didn't think that girls could be good at math. They thought that girls were only good at things like cooking and sewing. But some girls wanted to do more than that, and they worked really hard to learn about math.
One of the first women in the United States to become a math professor was Mary Everest Boole, and she started teaching in the late 1800s.
But it wasn't until the 1900s that more and more women started to become mathematicians. One of the most famous was Grace Hopper. She helped create a computer language called COBOL, which made it easier for computers to understand the things we want them to do.
Other women mathematicians made important discoveries about things like geometry and statistics. And as more and more girls started to go to school and learn about math, we started to see even more women mathematicians.
Today, there are lots of women mathematicians in the United States, and they're doing amazing things. They're coming up with new ways to use math to solve real-world problems, and they're inspiring other girls to become mathematicians, too!
