Ting Hai effect

Have you ever heard of the Ting Hai effect? It's a fancy way of saying that sometimes people believe something just because they heard it many times. It's like when you sing a song you heard on the radio over and over again, even if you don't really like it, until you start to believe that it's a great song.

The Ting Hai effect started in China with a famous story about a girl called Ting Hai. The story goes like this: Ting Hai was in love with a boy named Chen. Chen went away to study in another town, and she missed him very much. One day, she heard a rumor that someone saw Chen walking with another girl, and that they might be in love. Ting Hai was very upset, but she didn't know if the rumor was true or not.

So what did she do? Ting Hai went around asking people if they had seen Chen with another girl. A lot of people said "yes," even though they hadn't really seen anything. They just wanted to help Ting Hai or they were bored and wanted to spread rumors. But because so many people said "yes," Ting Hai started to believe that it must be true, even though she didn't have any real evidence.

And that's the Ting Hai effect. It's when we believe something just because we have heard it so many times, even if there is no real evidence to support it. It's important to be careful about what we believe and not to make assumptions based on rumors or things we hear without checking if they are true.
