A tornado is like a big, spinning wind cloud that can cause a lot of damage. It's important to be prepared in case a tornado ever comes to your area. That's why we have tornado drills.
During a tornado drill, you'll hear a loud noise (usually a bell or a siren) that means you need to get to a safe place. You will also have practiced what to do before the drill starts, so you know where to go.
Safe places during a tornado drill are usually rooms without windows, like a hallway or a closet. You'll learn how to get there quickly and safely. Once you're there, you'll crouch down and cover your head with your hands to protect yourself from falling debris.
Everyone in the building will go to their designated safe place during a tornado drill, and practice staying there until the drill is over. This helps us be prepared for a real tornado, so we know what to do to keep ourselves safe.
