Traffic engineering (transportation)

Traffic engineering is a way to manage the roads in a city to keep the traffic flowing safely and efficiently. Traffic engineers plan the roads by deciding the best ways for cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles to go. They also make sure there are enough traffic signals, stop signs and other things that help make the roads organized so that everyone can move around without getting into accidents or causing too much congestion. They also create bike lanes and pedestrian paths so people who walk and bike can get where they need to go.
