A tram is a big train that runs on tracks in the middle of the street. It looks a lot like a bus, but it runs on rails instead of wheels. Trams can carry lots of people at the same time, so they're really great for cities where lots of people need to get around.
Trams work kind of like this: they have a really long metal pole called a pantograph that sticks up from the top of the tram and connects to a wire above the tram. The wire sends electricity to the tram's motor, which helps the tram move forward.
When the tram needs to stop, it uses special brakes that gently slow it down. The driver can also steer the tram left and right to make sure it stays on the tracks.
Some trams have really cool designs on the outside or inside, too!
