ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Transition (linguistics)

Transition is a way of connecting two words, phrases, or thoughts in language. Think of it like a bridge. A transition helps us move from one thing to another. For example, when you are telling someone about your day, you may say, "First, I went to school, then I went to soccer practice." You used a transition--"then"--to move from talking about school to talking about soccer practice.
