Treenail

A treenail is like a super strong wooden nail that people used a long time ago to build big boats and ships. It's kind of like the nails you use to put two pieces of wood together, but treenails are way bigger and stronger because they're made from really sturdy wood.

When people wanted to build a big ship a long time ago, they couldn't just use regular nails because they wouldn't be strong enough to hold the wood together. So they made treenails by cutting long pieces of wood into thin, round pieces. Then they hammered the treenails into the pieces of wood they wanted to join together.

Treenails were really important because they helped hold the ship together when it was being tossed around by waves and winds. They also helped create a watertight seal so the ship wouldn't sink. Treenails were used for a long time, but nowadays we have better tools and materials to make boats and ships.
