Trihydrogen cation

So, you know what hydrogen is right? It's a type of atom that is very light and has only one proton and one electron. Well, when you take three hydrogen atoms and stick them together, they form something called the trihydrogen molecule.

Now, sometimes one of the electrons from each of the three hydrogen atoms gets shared between all three of them. This causes the molecule to lose its overall negative charge and become positively charged instead. This positively charged molecule is called a trihydrogen cation.

Think of it like three friends who are playing together and holding hands. When they all hold hands, they become really strong and can do some cool things. But sometimes they let go of one of their own hands and hold onto a toy together instead. The toy makes them happy, but it also makes them weaker by taking away a hand they could use to do things. The trihydrogen cation is like three friends holding onto a toy together. It's still strong, but it's also one hand short and has a positive, happy charge!
