Helium hydride ion

Okay, so you know how sometimes balloons float up in the air? That's because they are filled with a gas called helium. Well, scientists have found a tiny little molecule floating in space that is made up of helium and hydrogen. They called it the helium hydride ion (or HeH+ for short).

Now, this molecule is special because it was the first molecule that ever formed in the universe. It was created shortly after the Big Bang when the universe was still really young.

But don't worry, you don't have to understand all of that to know what helium hydride ion is. Basically, it's just a molecule made up of two really tiny particles - helium and hydrogen - that are held together by some magical forces. Scientists think that understanding this molecule could help us learn more about how the universe was formed and how it has evolved over time.
