ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Triops

Triops are tiny creatures that live in water. They look a bit like mini horseshoe crabs or lobsters, with little legs underneath their flat, oval-shaped bodies. Triops are really cool because they have been around for millions of years, so they are like living fossils.

To hatch triops, first you need to get a special kit that includes some eggs and some special food that will help them grow. You put the eggs into a container of water, add some of the special food, and then wait for a little while.

After a few days, you should see tiny specks swimming around in the water. These are the baby triops hatching from their eggs! Over the next few weeks, you get to watch them grow and go through different stages of development. They will get bigger and bigger, and soon you'll be able to see their little legs moving as they swim through the water.

You will need to keep taking care of the triops by feeding them their special food and making sure their water stays clean. But don't worry - it's all very easy and you don't need to do much. Before you know it, your triops will have grown into fully-grown adults and it will be time to say goodbye to them.

In summary, triops are tiny water creatures that you can hatch and watch grow. They are like tiny horseshoe crabs and they have been around for millions of years. With a special kit, you can take care of triops and watch them grow, but you will need to make sure they are fed and their water is clean. It's a super cool and fun project to do!
