Tropaion

A tropaion is a special object that people used to put on display to show off their victories. Kind of like a trophy, but way back in the olden days.

Let's say you were a great warrior and you won a big battle. You might make a sculpture or statue out of the weapons or armor you took from your enemies. Then you would put that statue in a special place, maybe in a temple or on a big stone pillar, so everyone could see it and know that you were awesome.

People used tropaia to remember important events, like a big battle or a sports competition. It was like a time capsule that would remind everyone for years and years about what happened, and how great the people involved were.
