Tropical wave

A tropical wave is like a very long bump in the air that moves across the ocean. It's like when you're riding your bike and you hit a bump in the road that makes you bounce up and down. Except this bump in the air is way bigger and it moves over the water instead of the road.

Tropical waves can be important because they sometimes help to form big storms like hurricanes. When the bumpy wave moves over warm water, it can make the air above the water get very warm and humid. This can cause the air to start spinning around in circles, which can turn into a hurricane.

Scientists keep track of tropical waves so they can predict when a hurricane might form. They use special tools like satellites and airplanes to measure how big the wave is and how fast it's moving. Then they use all that information to make predictions about the weather.
